LEWISTON -He said it was the best BLT he's had in years.
But one man's lunch plans Thursday may have led to a delay of travel plans for people at the Lewiston/Nez Perce County Regional Airport.
At about 11:30 Thursday morning, a fire alarm forced the evacuation of the terminal. The source of the problem was the kitchen at the Last Waypoint Saloon, the airport's second floor restaurant.
Restaurant owner Stella Thompson said the regular cook was out, and employees forgot to turn on the hood fan. Smoke from bacon being cooked set off the alarm.
Thompson said they used box fans to eventually clear out the smoke. She said she apologized to evacuated airport patrons, whose flight to Salt Lake City was delayed about 15 minutes.
The man who ordered the BLT, who was waiting for an early afternoon flight to Seattle, said the sandwich was worth it.
