OK, maybe not the meaning of the whole thing. Or even a very large thing.
Would you believe, one tiny thing? How about an entire web site devoted to--- no, I won't spoil it by telling you ahead of time. Just click, and behold the #1 site in its category, the life-changing wonder that is... http://tinyurl.com/3fuuy
Thank you Fred.
ReplyDeleteNow my life is complete.

Uh-oh, you got pretty close:
ReplyDeleteUnwelcome Links...[stuff about bandwidth]...
I'm also never thrilled to see someone linking with a one-liner like:
"This guy has way too much time on his hands". Besides being the most un-original and un-imaginative way of trying to get a laugh, talk about a case of the pot calling the kettle black! These people have nothing better to do with their time than mindlessly visiting web sites, writing ill-informed comment about them on other web sites, and in doing so, sending other like-minded time-wasting freeloaders my way.
Please, think first, be considerate, and try to either link responsibly or not at all.
Oh, dear. As punishment, I suppose my laces won't stay tied anymore.
ReplyDeleteGotta disagree w/DDD: the shoelace site isn't junk: it's one person's passion, depth instead of breadth, and it's loaded with information about an item many of us use every day. It's rather well done, I think. Two thumbs up-- one for the site and one for this blog for bringing it to our attention.
ReplyDeleteActually I think DDD did the "Unwelcome Links" thing rather than Fred.
ReplyDeleteI, for one, am going to use the Ian Knot from now on instead of what I have been doing for the last cough..cough years. So, at least for one reader, the link in Fred's blog was not a waste of Ian's bandwidth.
I think because we do learn to tie our shoe laces at 5 years old, we are condemned to suffer thereafter. I admit I have never quite gotten the hang of the business. The result is that my deck shoes are permanently floppy...and I now have a predilection for slip on shoes. The lace ups are at the back of my wardrobe.....
ReplyDeleteDDD quoted the unwelcome links stuff from the Ian's Shoelace Site page called Linking to Ian's Shoelace Site and DDD made a tongue-in-cheek wisecrack to Fred who, DDD believes, took it the right way. Shame on DDD for not using emoticons.
ReplyDeleteBTW, DDD got an A on a paper called "How To Tie Your Own Shoes" in a 1st year engineering course, Technical Writing I. Back in the day.
