Interesting weather

I've been in Seattle for a few days, and it's been uncharacteristically clear, and cold:

=========

... Record low temperature set at Seattle WA WFO...

A record low temperature of 21 degrees was set at Seattle WA WFO
yesterday. This breaks the old record of 29 set in 1995.

===========

My host here says it only goes below freezing in Seattle every 3 years or so. Been below freezing for the last few nights. The Seattlites aren't used to it, and the streets look like Nome, if you went by the dress of the populace. But it *is* unusually cold.

And I'll be flying home to this:

... Winter Storm Watch in effect from late tonight through
Wednesday evening...

The National Weather Service in gray has issued a Winter Storm
Watch... which is in effect from late tonight through Wednesday
evening.

Across the interior southeast New Hampshire and interior sections
of York County Maine... snow is expected to develop close to daybreak
Wednesday... and fall heavily at times Wednesday morning. The snow
is expected to mix with and change to sleet and rain in the
afternoon. More than 6 inches of snow is possible before the
change to sleet and rain.

As the precipitation becomes lighter Wednesday night... it may fall
in the form of rain... .freezing rain or sleet. This will depend on
surface temperatures... but little additional snowfall is expected
after Wednesday evening.

A Winter Storm Watch means there is a potential for significant
snow... sleet... or ice accumulations that may impact travel.
Continue to monitor the latest forecasts.

I may be sleeping in an airport somewhere. Glad I brought an extra change of underwear.... ;)
