Here's a map of the approximately 4000 oil rigs operating in the Gulf of Mexico.
Many have known safety defects, on file. The proposal: As punishment for the spill, make oil companies bring *all* wells to existing standards, 100%, immediately; no excuses, no delays, no bullshit.

Better still, make them all stop pumping oil till they get fixed.
ReplyDelete$5-$8/gal for gas is worth it for 12-18 months the pumping is stopped. Most people are unemployed anyways.
