It's a joke, deliberately confusing the kiwi (the New Zealand flightless bird) and the tasty kiwifruit (Chinese Gooseberry) which is often also referred to simply as a "kiwi."
But, like most humor, it relies on the element of surprise from the incongruity; bird <> fruit. Once explained, the joke dies.
