Oh yes, let's store everything in The Cloud, tra-la.

Google joins Northrop Grumman, Lockheed Martin, and many, many others.

I think anyone who hosts sensitive or truly private material on outsourced servers is totally, certifiably nuts.

  1. Thank you, thank you, thank you. I have been saying that since the idea of cloud computing was first introduced. the idea that I would pay "someone, somewhere" to store my all my data backups was just crazy. If I could prove their security unbreakable, I'd have my own business! Not to mention their business could just go belly up, and pfft! - my info unavailable.
So what is driving this ludicrous trend? Laziness? It's not the cost of storage.
I also think the technology has been packaged so well, the majority of people don't understand it, but get to use it. As it becomes more complex, there are fewer people who can control it.

  2. Amen, amen, amen.

For a while there, I thougth *I* was the only person who thought this.

I love gmail for my personal mail, but will *never* understand why multinational corporations would ever use, say, box.net.
