Higgs limerick | Jon Butterworth | Life & Physics | Science | guardian.co.uk

A physicist saw an enigma

And called to his mum "Flying pig, ma!"

She said "Flying pigs?

Next thing you'll see the Higgs!"

He said "Nah, not until it's five sigma!"

You know, Peter Higgs never called it a "god particle," and hates that phrase. So do I --- as if we need to inject religion into the discussion. Sigh.

That's why Higgs humor appeals to me, I guess. CERN is not a church. An elemental particle is not a divine being. Sheesh.
