If you want a nice car, you pay more than for a crapmobile.
You want a nice meal, you pay more than for junk food.
You want a first-rate ANYTHING, you pay more than for the cut-rate version.
Except, according to the GOP, when it comes to goveranance. According to the right wing, we can have low taxes, and yet still magically have first-world infrastructure and governance.
It flies in the face of common sense. It's impossible. It's fantasy.
"I want America to be #1, but don't want to pay for it." Riiiiiiight.
At least "I don't want to pay for us to be a top-rank nation," would be honest.
Alas, stats like those go against the deftly organized and incessant Big Lie campaign of "taxes are too high," "Obamacare costs jobs," "climate change isn't proven," "guns makes us safer," and all the rest.
Some people's minds cannot be changed even by objective, demonstrable facts. The lies just feel too good to give up.
It's amazing humanity has survived his long, isn't it?

What should the USA spend more money on?
ReplyDeleteA few examples:
literacy: (the US is 46th in the world)
longevity: we're 21st
peacefulness: 88th
child mortality: 49th
maternal (childbirth) mortality: 16th
environment: 49th
citizen satisfaction with Life: 23rd
But on the other hand, the US is #1 in defense spending, gun ownership, and the number of citizens in jail.
Woohoo! We're #1!
Those rankings should be on the front page everyday, everywhere.
