It seems like the Republicans never change their mind. If you are a Republican then it's about 50/50 that you own a gun regardless of any other factor.
I wonder what causes the inverse-correlation in the above graph? Most striking in the early 80s when Reagan was President where there is a sharp peak and valley for the two parties.

The data could also imply that gun owners have been changing parties from Democrat to Republican, and the inverse.
ReplyDelete... or that Democrats who are gun owners are increasingly more reluctant to disclose the fact to surveys.
ReplyDeleteP, that makes the most sense. Those correlations must be people switching parties which means that it's *not* primarily more Republicans buying guns.
