What a view!

The US's newest, state-of-the-art weather satellite, GOES 14, went live just last month.

  1. You'd think with all the money this satellite cost it would at least have a color camera instead of an old black and white one.

  2. Um, it's a weather satellite. For cloud pictures, it "sees" in b&w visible light and infrared, the two colors needed to see water vapor in all its forms.

    They're doing science with that satellite; not art. =)
