$1,000 AudioQuest Diamond 3.3' High-Speed HDMI Cable

Media_httpimagesbestb_zvtar

Of course, this is a legal scam: all HDMI and "digital" cables are essentially the same, and should cost no more than a few dollars. But compnies prey on rich, dumb technophiles who think that electrons can tell the difference between a $10 cable and a $1000 cable.

Read the "reviews" of this cable for some laughs

  2. I'm not so sure this is a joke, even though it should be.

There is more than this one...all 6, 7, or 800 hundred dollars. All of them mentioned that they were made with "Long Grain Copper"...which I googled and found this page: http://www.wirelogic.us/basics.html.

If you want more head scratching laughs read the last paragraph about cable "directionality". Apparently, in audio cables, electrons also know know if they are traveling right-to-left as opposed to left-to-right.

    Sad.

  3. No, it's real. It was started with "Monster Cables," which convinced many that they needed to spend 3 and 4 times the normal price for cables --- as i you need a cable heavier than a household 20AMP circuit to run your speakers.

These guys are just taking it to an extreme.

And don't get me started on kids who think vinyl records sound better than digital --- and then listen to highly-compressed mp3s through sh*tty little earbuds.

It's a triumph of marketing over reaon.

  4. Aw, c'mon, Fred! You posted a link to a wonderful product that IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE!!! What's up with that?

You bought the last one and are just rubbing it in all of our faces in that oh-so-subtle yet totally in-your-face way that you do in such an evil yet awesome manner, aren't you?
