1000 MPH (1600kph) Car

I enjoyed driving the Autobahns in Europe, motoring along at a pace that would have meant jail time in the US. I even flirted with some, shall we say, higher than normal speeds on long, straight, dry, desert roads in the empty parts of the US Southwest.

But this is a whole 'nother thing:

  1. Who would drive this car? Is there a practical use for a car that fast? What safety features would it have? How much fuel does it use?

  2. Very practical.

    Any guy would drive it.

Safety features? We don' need no stinkin' safety features. [blazing saddles for the uninitiated]

As to fuel...it's like price, if u havta ask, then u canna drive it.

Not to be too obvious but I notice that a woman asked these questions, not a guy. Thanks Sue. heehee

  3. I don't understand what the big deal is. I know someone who put a jet rocket on his car and set out in the desert to break the land speed record (using a parachute for a breaking mechanism) but he went so fast that he didn't even have time to deploy the parachute before he hit a mountain and died.

Well, this actually happened to a friend of my friend.

Okay, I got it in an email. But it really happened!

  4. I heard that too, Rubin. If I recall correctly, he paid for the car with the money he got helping that poor widow of the Nigerian Finance Minister transfer her holdings to a US bank, right?

  5. I thought it was from the money that Bill Gates and Apple paid him for testing their email tracking systems

  6. Sorry for the delay--- I had to send a postcard to that kid with cancer in England, and then send a good luck email to 10 friends before the time deadline expired. Whew, just made it!

    The true story

I lost my original post (it was LONG) but basically this is the true story.

    outline:

-Rockets available (JATO to be exact)
    -Idea for car
-Friend says wont work (he knew the physics behind it)
    -Friend suggests train
-They build train with an old car body
    -They decide to test unmanned
-Rocket rockets toward mine, derails, mine collapses
-They get out of there (JATO rockets are illegal to have)

I HIGHLY recommend reading it, its worth the time. BTW, I met this guy once.

  8. Can that kid with Cancer use any money? I just found out that my ticket won the U.K. Lottery, and I thought I might send some of my winnings to him before the barrister sends me the rest of my cash. I'm going to use the restof my money to buy the Neiman Marcus cookie recipe.
