Looooong day. Operation sail, "Opsail 2012," went into overdrive today with the arrival of the Tall Ships. This is unusually large event: the confluence of Navy Week, Boston Harborfest, War of 1812 Bicentennial celebrations, along with OpSail 2012, and more. The harbor was a riot of activity. I took an early ferry back out to Spectacle Island, and spent most of the day there. It'll take a while to process the pictures, but here's a sneak peek. (It was in the 90's (30's C); heat ripples and haze made the telephoto pix blurry, but you'll get the idea. Click for a larger version.) 
As you can see, it was also very windy. between the heat and the wind, I'm going to spend the next few hours rehydrating in front on an air conditioner. But man: what a gorgeous day!
