"god particle" bullsh*t

Man, if I hear this "god particle" crap one more time...

The Higgs boson is named after Scottish physicist Peter Higgs, who was the first to develop the theoretical basis that showed that the eponymous particle must exist.

Another physicist, Leon Lederman, wrote about Higgs and his theoretical particle, which has resisted all attempts to detect it. In his paper, Lederman referred to it as "the goddamned particle." The conservative editors changed it "the God particle" --- with entirely different connotations --- and we've been stuck with that stupid name ever since.

By the way, Lederman went with the flow, and now uses the term "God particle."

But Higgs is an atheist, and hates it.

  1. Whether yo believe in God or not, He is behind the scenes anyway. It is a good reminder.

  2. The nice thing about science, Pedro, is that it relies on observable facts and testable theories. It's rational and self-correcting

The problem with religion is that anyone can claim anything, because nothing is testable, and the "proofs" invisible. It's anti-rational and dogmatic.

As the saying goes: 'Science flies you to the moon. Religion flies you into skyscrapers.'
